National Fellows Conference Breakout Sessions
In addition to the evening Keynote Speakers, you also have the opportunity to learn from several others in the TFI community this year. On Saturday morning, there will be two 1-hour blocks of breakout sessions. The sessions will be the same in both hours so that you can attend two sessions.
Resume Writing and the Image of God
Dennis Doran - Director, Trinity Fellows Program
Room: Sanctuary (2nd Floor...same as Fellowship Hall)
This breakout will explore the intersection of professional development and Christian identity. We will discuss how to present your skills, experiences, and aspirations in a way that honors God, serves others, and aligns with your calling.
Why Doesn't God Fix Me?
Scott Johnson - Co-Director, Virginia Beach Fellows Program
Room: Classroom 16/17 (1st Floor)
Do you sometimes feel the profound brokenness of the world or in your life. Whether it's disappointment, anxiety, broken relationships, or physical illness, we can sometimes wonder where God is in all of it. This discussion will be an exploration of God's love in hardship.
Teaching Christianly: How the Gospel Helps Us Reimagine Education
Ralston Hartness - Director, Chattanooga Fellows
Room: Multipurpose Room (Below 1st Floor)
Thinking about teaching as a profession or simply want to be a better Sunday School or small group leader? This session will explore how the comprehensive Gospel (Creation, Fall, Redemption, Consummation) motivates a uniquely Christian approach to pedagogy, practice, and presence.
Christians and Conspiracy Theories
Cari Hicks - Greenville Fellows Program Fellows
Room: McLean Room (2nd Floor)
The world seems to be full of conspiracy theories today, most of which induce fear and erode trust. How can Christians navigate the world of conspiracy theories from a biblical standpoint? What role should we play in a world divided by half-truths?
A Call to Christian Unity Amidst Polarization
Theresa Wilson - Director, Louisville Bridge Fellows
Room: Grand Foyer (1st Floor open area)
In an increasingly polarized culture, Christ's prayer that the Church be one as the Father and Son are one (John 17:21) is critical. We are called to draw people to Christ by our love for one another (John 13:35). And yet, there are over 200 Christian denominations in the US alone (and 45,000 globally). How can we care about unity and theological differentiation simultaneously? We will explore these questions and more, ending with practical applications for our daily lives.
AI and People: How Can We Use AI and Still Focus on People?
Betsy Sigman - Emeritus Professor, Georgetown University and TFI Board Member
Room: Fellowship Hall (2nd Floor)
AI has been the hottest tech topic of the last few years. And, it has spread beyond tech to social domains as well. How can Christians, who are called to honor the dignity of image-bearers approach AI with wisdom and without fear in everyday life?
How to Be Generous When You Don't Have Much to Give
Allen Craig - Global Health Expert and TFI Board Member
Room: Classroom 14/15 (1st Floor)
We are called to be generous with one another. But how can we do that when we don't have much to give? Dr. Craig will lead a discussion on ways that young leaders can see and understand generosity as a pattern and practice to build over a lifetime.
How to Get the Most from Your Fellows Experience
Ken Friday - Retired Dentist and TFI Board Member
Room: Classroom 12 (1st Floor)
You still have a lot of time left in your Fellows program year. How can you make the most of that time - taking from it as a student and giving to it as a servant? This practical session will help you think about ways to benefit most from your Fellows year.
